Starting from humble beginnings; on a small farm in Wylam almost 40 years ago supplying timber and steel, Stan Dawson quickly outgrew the farm. He moved to Kirkley Sawmill, just outside Ponteland, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1992. This gave him the space to increase the product range and materials and to also include a secure self storage facility. This business has grown over the years and is now one of the most established timber and steel merchants in the North East. Built on reputation; this is something they have worked very hard to earn since starting back in 1979.

Stan Dawson are specialists in reclaimed timber and using materials than he has sourced and handpicked across the North East. Stan has witnessed the decline in heavy industry such as shipyards, collieries and steel works over the years and is delighted to recycle these materials for general sale. Stan is pleased to see the changing face of the North East, now flourish again.

Objectives:

Stan Dawson had been using traditional forms of media advertising and had a basic website. With a changing market place and changing media options, Stan knew he had to embrace a more digital approach and transition to an online marketing mix. This had to be done over a sensible period of time and as such a plan for the short, medium and long term was put in place and implemented.

First – a new website that would be informative and give customers the information they needed, that would then drive sales leads, either by phone or email. In order to gain traffic to the website the website had to be optimised to ensure the services offered matched what customers were looking for.

This Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) would ensure in the long term that Stan would be found on Google searches in the organic listings.

This was complimented with Google Adverts (PPC) to ensure he appeared in the short term and was visible in areas that were competitive.

Stan has an abundance of domestic and commercial garden lovers that frequently purchase reclaimed Railway Sleepers, general timber or telegraph poles for their projects
